Toby Ugly is a story of disconnection and redemption. Tobias Cousins (Toby) was successful in every observable way, a good respectable family, and a college football scholarship. After a personal tragedy sends him reeling, Toby’s new life journey leads him through many experiences. He is haunted by images of a friend he tried to save from an all-consuming fire and his own near-death experience that left him with severe scarring. Now he hides his face under a hooded jacket, believing that what others could not see would not bother them.

 

He becomes a recluse and shuts himself away from a world he believes wants nothing to do with him. When an extremely violent kidnapping and rape occurs near his home, he successfully rescues the victim and cares for her. Still dealing with his own physical and emotional wounds, Toby embarks on a journey of rebuilding his life, and in doing so, creates a legacy he will be remembered by. In today’s troubled world, Toby Cousins' journey will make you believe no matter how many challenges fate sends your way, the human spirit can triumph.
